Unfortunately this week’s NServiceBus Weekly is running little late. But fear not, it will get published in the near future.

NServiceBus is moving forward. The trunk version now targets the .NET Framework 4.0 by default.

News

• Upcoming conferences and courses – Udi Dahan has posted an updated list of upcoming conferences and courses. Many of them include NServiceBus in one way or another.
• Trifork Geek Nights – Mookid will give an introduction to messaging in .NET with NServiceBus in Trifork Geek Nights in November and December.
• Project Changes - Current revision: 1369. Last week brought as over ten new revisions. Some highlights include: “Support for send only endpoints” and switch to .NET Framework 4.0 as the default target framework.

• Recording of Andreas Öhlund on NServiceBus @ E-VAN 29 September 2010 – Andreas Öhlund’s NServiceBus coding session from last week was recorded and released. Make sure to check out the video.
• Enabling NServiceBus Performance Counters – Adam Fyles posted two blog posts related to NServiceBus performance counters. This is the one showing how to install the counters.
• Monitoring NServiceBus: Performance Counters Starting Point- In his second post, Adam Fyles list the suggested performance counters to look at.

• NServiceBus Xml Serialization issue with messages that have an IEnumerable<T> property- Why one can’t use IEnumerable in IMessage? Read on to find out.
• Polymorphic subscriptions in NServiceBus works only for interfaces? – This great question (and answer too) shed some line on the design principles of NServiceBus messages.
• Any reason why Distributor might leak or hang – Some NServiceBus users are having problems with the Distributor. In some cases the process seems to just hung out. Read on to find more information.

• NServiceBus on Europe Virtual Alt.net – Andreas Öhlund is giving a NServiceBus presentation in Virtual Alt.net on 29th of September (that is today!).
• Project Changes - Current revision: 1357. Last week brought something interesting: “basic Azure queuing and subscription support”. Not sure on the details yet, but stay tuned.

• Updating NServiceBus to use another version of Castle Windsor – Paul Hadfield has a good introduction on how to enhance NServiceBus’ IoC-support. In his example Paul explains how he added a support for Castle Windsor 2.5.

• NServiceBus and Windows Identity Foundation - From the Yahoo NServiceBus Group, Periop IT asks for advices regarding WIF (Windows identity foundation) and NServiceBus. 
• Biztalk integration with NServiceBus - Highly interesting question by shawn. Udi jumps in and points out that some of the interoperability issues between NServiceBus and Biztalk has been fixed in the 2.5 version.
• New NSB user - architectural/design questions - Couple interesting answers to this architecture related question. What is a system and what is a service? Read on to find out.
• Design/guidelne - Similar to the previous question, this one deals with the architecture of NServiceBus systems.
• Multicast with NSB - Andreas Öhlund and Udi Dahan help Alberto to define what is the role of NServiceBus in his system. Contains many good answers, be sure to check them out.

• Win Service getting permission denied to Message Queuing- For those users struggling with the NServiceBus in Windows 7 environment. Bob The Janitor found a solution to his own problem by modifying the permissions.
• NServiceBus and .Net 1.1 – Vijay would like to use NServiceBus with .NET Framework 1.1. Unfortunately that’s not supported. Ducttapeman points out a really good reason for upgrading your 1.1 applications to a newer framework: Microsoft is not supporting the 1.1 version anymore.

• Project Changes - Current revision: 1349. Developer team is keeping it going, adding a total of 13 new revisions into the NServiceBus repository. Highlights are the simplified Full Duplex sample in the 2.5 branch and bug fixes related to the testing library. Check out the repository history to get all the details.

• Extending NServiceBus - Moukarram Kabbash takes an interesting look on the subject of extending NServiceBus. In the process he creates a solution which allows to compress the delivered messages in order to save bandwidth. Though he also points out that NServiceBus is missing a one crucial interface: IMapIncomingTransportMessages.
• NServiceBus Distributor: Replying to client from the worker - Small tutorial which shows how the workers are able to deliver the replies back to the client when NServiceBus distributor is in use.
• Fix It! NServiceBus Host Crashes with TNS-less Oracle Connections - Short and to the point post by Adam Files on how to fix the crashing NServiceBus Host when using Oracle with TNS-less connections.

• NQueueStuffer - NQueueStuffer is an open source application created by Jan Ove Skogheim Olsen. Using his own words: "NQueueStuffer is a Windows Forms tool for generating and stuffing NServicebus messages on a queue. It lets the user choose an assembly and a messagetype that implements NServicebus.IMessage and generates a template message based on the messagetype. The user can then edit and stuff this message directly to a MSMQ queue." Excellent work!
• Message Priority - Interesting discussion about NServiceBus and message priority.
• When to use multiple handlers - Architectural question by jontycurtis about when to use more than one handler to process a message.
• Injecting a Bus via Spring - If you have problems using NServiceBus with Spring, this discussion may help you.
• Disconnect cannot be called while a transaction is in progress - In this discussion the answer give an interesting insight on the inner stuff of NServiceBus.
• New Message Header Handling - After jschick333 presented the problem with the latest version of NServiceBus, Udi reponds and describes how the message header handling has been changed in the latest revisions.
